Lean
Six Sigma Green Belt Training
Class
starts January 18, 2010
Advancing
and sustaining vocational and company growth can be heavily dependent
on leveraging proven on-going improvement tools/concept. Leading
this field are Lean and Six Sigma. To address these needs and opportunities.
the Anaheim Chapter of APICS has developed an incorporated Lean
and Six Sigma offering where one can receive both a Six Sigma Green
Belt certification along with a firm grasp of Lean concepts.
There
is really no controversy in considering Lean and Six Sigma as "shared"
set of tools and a philosophy where they are truly mutually exclusive.
More and more companies are now realizing this (e.g., Boeing with
their Lean Plus initiative and GE who now has a VP of Lean Six Sigma).
Class
Instructions will be led by a Six Sigma Master Black Belt who also
extends training in Lean as a practitioner and instructor. A project
is part of the curriculum and can be team-based. Guidelines and
criteria are available to facilitate the project. There will be
a review and quiz for each session, which will be the basis for
the final exam. The course concludes with a "real" opportunity
project and an open book final exam.
There
are no prerequisites required for this course, but to better personalize
and to have an effective instructor to student interaction/mentoring,
the enrollment is limited to 12 students.
"Takeaways"
include software applicable to Lean Six Sigma Green Belts, a hardcopy
text, subject outlines, and applicable articles/tools. And, the
first eight (8) registrations will receive a statistical calculator
as part of their registration benefits.
We
have been asked, "Why are we offering the Lean SS Green Belt
training at such a low cost since similar offerings is usually twice
our cost or greater?' Our response to this is that our chapter has
a vision and goal in enhancing our customer's career and/or their
workplace competitive advantage. If we can do this at the lowest
cost while offering value and a powerful business tool set, we are
meeting our own expectations and vision.
