Supply Chain Continuous Improvement Analyst II (Inventory Optimization)

Job Summary

The Supply Chain Continuous Improvement Analyst is responsible for designing business processes and preparing Standard Operating Procedures for various Supply Chain Planning systems within Niagara’s Corporate Planning Department. The analyst will support implementation of new Planning systems, creation of reports and dashboards and will design business processes using the new systems, reports dashboards and the like. In addition, he/she will coordinate research projects with our university partners.
Detailed Description

  The analyst will focus on ‘Inventory Optimization’ for at least a year and will gradually take up other strategic projects in Supply Chain Planning.
  • Partner with Production Planning and Sales and Operations Planning teams to identify opportunities in Inventory reduction and develop business cases.
  • Research and identify methodologies for determining the right inventory – SKU mix and level, to achieve targeted service levels at a reasonable cost. Partner with Subject Matter Experts and academic institutions for research.
  • Develop and maintain tools needed to determine inventory policy (Safety stock and Order quantity) for various SKUs and product categories.
  • Create training material and guide Master Planners and other team members in utilizing the tools.
  • Design and launch new business processes in Master Planning and Production scheduling to ensure inventory remains at optimal levels.
  • Prepare project plans with clear milestones during launches and provide periodic updates to management on the progress of launches.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for all inventory related initiatives, and facilitate meetings centered around building consensus on inventory policies to be followed.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to track KPIs related to inventory and publish them periodically.
  • Guide and groom other team members to lead inventory reduction initiatives and plan new business process launches.

Work Experience/KSA’s

Required:
  • 3-5 years – In Field
  • *experience may include a combination of work experience and education

Preferred:
  • 5-7 years – In Field
  • *experience may include a combination of work experience and education

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Research, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in one of the aforementioned, or MBA
Competencies
  • High proficiency in MS Access & Excel
  • Hands-on experience working with RDBMS; MS SQL skills highly preferred
  • Must have strong knowledge of Inventory concepts and Safety stock methodologies
  • Knowledge of Visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI is a plus
  • Experience with Strategic Planning, Demand Planning, Capacity Planning, Master Scheduling, and/or Inventory Control in a Manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Should have excellent oral and written communication. Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate across multiple diverse groups, both internally and externally oriented.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Have a quality orientation and be adept at identifying sub-optimal processes, and then participating in leading change to improve those processes.
